Field Trip!!

This spring my son's Photography group in 4H made the trip to New Ross Farm Museum for some photo opportunities. It was a rainy day, so the kids got burnt out and cranky fast so it was a quick trip, but if you are in to Heritage, or experiencing things of the Pioneer Days this is a great little place to go!






They do different demos during the day, when we were there they were doing sheep sheering, building apple barrels and the blacksmith was shoeing Oxen, but they also do things like make soup, tools, and candles. The workers all dress in period clothing, and have different stories to tell.







There is lots of great scenery and animals too, so there's really something for everyone to enjoy, so it's well worth making the trip out to visit.

Deja Vu??

Here we are again, with yet another Revisit.  I wish I could get out and see something new, but with the lighthouses I haven't seen yet being so far away it's not easy. Then when I do get to go places I've already been and I have a lot of time to kill what else is there to do but to do a revisit and check things out.

Today's revisit was to the Black Rock Lighthouse.  This was one of the early ones I've been to back in 2010, so it's not like some of my other revisits that I get to every year.  Not much has changed, if anything at all, but I did forget how nice of a spot it was to look out over the water.

Anyway, there's my little blurb for today, nothing new... but at least it's something.

She's Called Nova Scotia....

I do not come to you with an upbeat post or story of a fun adventure today.  Today I just wanted to get a post in to pay respects to a great Canadian Woman.... a Nova Scotian, a "Cape Bretoner", Ms. Rita MacNeil.

Her work and her lyrics were deeply touching, and after receiving her first Juno award at the age of 42, she has led me to believe you are never to old to go for your dream and to never give up.  Growing up in Nova Scotia, there is no way you have never heard of her, especially her song, "She's Called Nova Scotia", a song I find to be very honest, very touching, very inspiring and calm, all things I strive to be, and will remember every time I hear it play.

There is so much more I could say, but I'd rather not go searching the internet and just drop facts on you, I just wanted to share my feelings, show my respect and share it with you my followers.   If you have never heard of Ms. Rita MacNeil please visit her website at www.ritamacneil.com. Spring Has Sprung!

The first signs of spring are starting to show and you all know what that means!!!!  It's time for me to make sure the camera always has a charge and to get out there and see some Lighthouses!  I hope I can get out to see some anyway.  If I can't I'll at least be sure to get on here and show you what I do get out to see and do, lighthouses or no lighthouses.

Revisit Alert!!

Hi folks!  I hope winter is treating you all ok and you keeping for going "shack wacky" during this long season.  Thankfully we have been pretty fortunate to not have experienced a lot of snow!  I haven't got a lot to report on today, but I did manage to get a lighthouse picture in today while the kids were at the dentist.  It's a revisit one, the Annapolis Royal Lighthouse.  I thought it looked nice with a light dusting of snow and wanted to share.

She's On Her Way!

Just a quick update on the Lighthouse return..... a grand celebration was had this afternoon in Saint John, the Lighthouse has been lifted, and secured on a flatbed and it is awaiting to soon board the Ferry to start it's journey back to Digby tonight.

I couldn't be there and that was very disappointing, however there are some sneak peek photos of the lift and pack up of the Lighthouse in the photo gallery at the Digby Courier if you all would like to take a look. I can't wait until she is on this side and I can go see her in person!

Only 1 week left!!!!!!

To anyone who has been following the news (or my posts) you will have heard about the little lighthouse the originated in Digby, NS that has been in Saint John, NB for quite a long time.... long enough I'm sure to some it has been forgotten why (and where) she was built in the first place, and the request to bring her 'Home".

She has been in the news for months, and on my mind as well (I really do not want to miss her arrival!!!!!)..... the wait is almost over. Next week she will be loaded on a truck and sent back home, I am hoping the truck goes right on the ferry as I would LOVE to be waiting on this side to watch her come off on to this side..... but time will tell.

In all my many years traveling on the ferry I have never noticed her sitting on the other side.... then again I was also a kid who slept a lot on long journeys, not to mention any time we were on the ferry it would either be midnight in Saint John (sleepy time) or 5am from Digby to Saint John (early morning = nap time for a young person once on the other side)..... in any case, I will post a photo from the celebration announcement just to show you what she looks like as she is now before her big move :)
